4,000 Christmas trees become green electricity / Stadtwerke publishes figure for January

26.01.2024 – Stadtwerke Offenbach's corporate culture is characterized by responsible action towards fellow human beings and the environment. In order to further advance the topic of sustainability, a separate competence center was recently established for this complex.

The Christmas trees at Offenbach's recycling center have not yet had their day - they can be used to generate environmentally friendly energy.

The "Number of the month" illustrates the commitment with facts. January 2024 is all about the environmentally friendly disposal of Christmas trees.

Number of the month January 2024:

4,000 Christmas trees

were collected by the Stadtservice of Stadtwerke in the third week of January 2024.

51 tons of conifers - 17,200 kw energy

Around 51 tons of conifers were collected on 13 tours within Offenbach. They were collected at the recycling center and will now be taken from there to a biocomposting plant. There, the trees are converted into environmentally friendly electricity: it is calculated that around 17,200 kW of energy is generated - enough to supply six average households in Germany with electricity for almost a year.

Drop-off possible at the recycling center

Anyone who has kept their Christmas tree in view of the wintry days last week can hand it in themselves at the recycling center and thus participate in the sustainable circular economy.
