The Nordendgarten - public raised bed on Goetheplatz

The Nordendgarten is located on Goetheplatz opposite the district office. It has been managed by "Besser leben in Offenbach" since spring 2018 and offers pupils from the Goethe School and local residents the opportunity to garden.

The north end garden with apple tree

The north end garden was created as a public raised bed back in 2016. At that time, the original planting of box trees was removed and topsoil was filled in. An apple tree was planted in the middle of the area, which is already bearing fruit.

Together with "Besser leben in Offenbach", pupils from the Goethe School took care of the city garden during the 2018 gardening season. They grew vegetables there and took part in an experiment on soybean cultivation, planting soybean plants on six square meters within the raised bed. The primary school pupils were supported by local residents who helped with watering and weeding.

Primary school pupils from the Goethe School looked after the Nordendgarten during the 2018 gardening season.

Now that the Goethe School class has temporarily stopped its involvement, the garden is being tended and cared for by volunteers. In addition to vegetables and fruit, many insect-friendly perennials and flowers grow here to attract bumblebees and bees.
