Apprentice and company honored by the IHK Offenbach am Main
17.11.2025 – Stadtwerke Offenbach received two awards at the 2025 awards ceremony of the Offenbach am Main Chamber of Industry and Commerce at the beginning of November: Stefanie Handt achieved an outstanding result throughout Hesse in her final examination to become an office management assistant, and Stadtwerke Offenbach was awarded the "Top Training Company" seal.
Steffi Handt had shortened her apprenticeship to two years and completed it with 98 out of 100 points. "This is an exceptional achievement, even among the best in the state, and we are very proud of it," emphasizes Stadtwerke Managing Director Peter Walther. Of the 39 trainees honored with a grade of 1, very few in Hesse achieved a score of 98 or 99 points. "That speaks for the quality of our training and for the commitment that young people can develop with us."
Certificate of honor for top training company in the region
Walther is particularly pleased about the certificate of honor for Stadtwerke Offenbach, which was also presented at the IHK award ceremony. According to the IHK, the award for top training company in the region went to companies that set a strong example with their commitment to quality and promoting young talent. "This confirms our efforts in recent years: We have significantly increased our efforts to recruit staff - because well-qualified young talent plays a very decisive role for our company in a growing, dynamic city," emphasizes Walther. "We offer trainees many benefits, a pleasant working atmosphere and the clear prospect of crisis-proof jobs." There are also children, nephews or nieces of employees in every trainee cohort. "This shows that many of our employees are so satisfied that they recommend us as an employer to those around them," says Training Manager Jasmin Noll. The certificate of honor underlines how valuable the work of all employees at Stadtwerke is, who support, encourage and empower young people.
Stadtwerke Offenbach launched a newly developed HR marketing campaign at the beginning of 2025 to advertise vacancies and apprenticeships more effectively and make them easier to fill. It consists of many different measures to reach several target groups. These include posters, online job advertisements, perimeter advertising in the stadium, stickers on pool vehicles, social media posts and a redesigned careers website (see below).
In addition, Stadtwerke's Human Resources Competence Center provides more information about Stadtwerke's offers at job fairs, Girls' Day, in schools and other formats. This is having an effect: Stadtwerke currently employs 61 trainees, more than ever before.
Apprenticeships and dual study programs advertised for 2026
New trainees are already being sought: Apprenticeships in eleven professions (from IT specialist to gardener and automotive mechatronics technician to civil engineering technician, each m/f/d) and two dual study programs are currently being advertised for 1 August 2026. For the first time, this also includes the Bachelor of Engineering (B-Eng.) Infrastructure and Environment dual study program. "Sustainable prosperity is one of our core tasks for the future," explains Peter Walther. "The dual study program focuses on sustainable solutions and environmental management in relation to our diverse tasks in infrastructure projects and urban development." The theoretical part takes place at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.
During the award ceremony, IHK President Kirsten Schoder-Steinmüller emphasized the importance of dual training "as a cornerstone for independence, recognition and belonging". She appealed to those present to value and further develop this training model. The fact that Stadtwerke Offenbach is actively doing just that was explicitly mentioned by the IHK when it honored the company as a top training company.
