Three questions for training manager Jasmin Noll
03.02.2020 – How do the trainees develop? What should applicants bring with them and what are the advantages of training with the Stadtwerke Offenbach Group? We asked Jasmin Noll, Head of Training.
1. you have already been able to accompany some trainees, how do they develop during their time with us?
The development of the trainees is always a totally exciting affair during the entire training period. At the end of their training, they have not only acquired a high level of technical expertise, they also develop their personality without even realizing it.
Thanks to the diversity of our company, the trainees gain many insights into different areas and therefore develop a good sense of the overall context. The regular trainee meetings and the good networking with each other create valuable relationships beyond the doors of the company in which they are being trained. You also notice how they can identify more and more with the Group every day and market us as an employer. At vocational school, you are often admired for your apprenticeship. At the beginning, many are unsure and shy, but just a few weeks later you get a first impression of where your strengths and weaknesses might lie. This may change over the course of the apprenticeship, but it is easy to see how they continue to develop their talents and strengths.
2 The Group offers training in various professions. The applicants are therefore very different. But what should they all bring with them?
For me, it is important that everyone has a very high level of motivation and enthusiasm. You can teach almost anyone technical skills, but the enthusiasm and ambition to make a difference and shape things is what makes the difference.
3. what are the advantages of starting your career with us?
The big advantage is the variety we have to offer. The commercial trainees change departments every three to five months and get to know many different tasks and areas. In the events department, trainees are allowed to help plan, organize and design an event from an early stage. Apprentices are also integrated into the day-to-day work in the commercial and technical area. It should also be emphasized that we have an incredible number of trainers/masters with the appropriate aptitude test who look after the trainees.
Our trainees and students are able to develop a routine for tasks and for mastering tasks at a very early stage and quickly work independently. During their training, they also receive a number of larger and smaller projects from me in which they can demonstrate their know-how and organizational skills as well as their creativity. The new project series "Exchange of ideas between the generations" also offers trainees the opportunity to play an active role in shaping the future of the Group.
We also offer many other voluntary benefits for our trainees. We cover all training-related costs, i.e. school trips, books, exercise books and other teaching materials, as well as special exam preparation courses.
For some years now, the IHK has been training around three to five trainees per apprenticeship year to become "training ambassadors". This additional qualification gives them the opportunity to talk about us and their training at various school visits.
