19 new trainees welcomed at Stadtwerke

04.08.2025 – Interest in an apprenticeship at Stadtwerke Offenbach is growing: almost 1,300 young people - a good 80 percent more than last year - have applied for the vacancies for 2025. 19 new trainees who made it through the application process were welcomed to Stadtwerke on August 1.

"In order to be better positioned for the future, we have significantly increased our recruitment efforts in recent years - and this is paying off," says Stadtwerke Managing Director Peter Walther. "The response to our 2025 trainee advertisements was very pleasing in terms of both quantity and quality, and we were able to fill almost all of the positions." At the start of the induction week, Walther welcomed prospective office management and real estate clerks as well as future IT specialists for system integration, gardeners for horticulture and landscaping (GaLa) and automotive mechatronics technicians for commercial vehicle technology (each f/m/d). There is also one dual student in Business Administration and two annual interns.

New campaign and participation in job fairs make an impact

Stadtwerke Offenbach launched a newly developed HR marketing campaign at the beginning of 2025 to advertise vacancies and apprenticeships more prominently and make them easier to fill. It consists of many different measures to reach several target groups. These include posters, online job advertisements, perimeter advertising in the stadium, stickers on pool vehicles, social media posts and a redesigned careers website (see below).

In addition, Stadtwerke's Human Resources Competence Center is increasingly providing information about Stadtwerke's offers at job fairs, Girls' Day, in schools and other formats. This sometimes has a very direct effect: "At the Night of Training, a young woman immediately took a liking to the topic of gardening," reports

Gerlinde Klos, Head of the Personnel Competence Center. "She asked a lot of questions, immediately asked for an internship and is now one of our new GaLa trainees." Young talent at Stadtwerke is not only to be taken literally in this case: Three of the new trainees are children of Stadtwerke employees.

"This shows that many of our employees are so satisfied that they recommend us as an employer in their area," says training manager Jasmin Noll. The prospects for permanent jobs afterwards are very good: in recent years, the retention rate for trainees has been almost 95%.

Payment of all costs and other benefits

Stadtwerke now employs a total of 61 trainees. To get them in the mood for the new phase of their lives, the higher year groups organized three introductory days for the newcomers - a good opportunity to get to know the company structure and make initial contacts with each other. The aim is to make the start of training easier and fun. On the first day, the older trainees and students presented the company structure, followed by the practical part the next day: excursions to the Capitol and the stadium, the recycling center, the bus workshop and the port. The new recruits are provided with laptops and headsets for optimal working conditions, and Stadtwerke Offenbach also covers all the costs of the training and dual study program. The many benefits also include an RMV job ticket, modern e-learning opportunities and discounts with external partners.

In addition to career prospects and clearly regulated working hours, Stadtwerke as an employer also offers genuine personal support: they help to build a solid financial future and foster a sense of community at joint events. An event for all trainees from the entire Stadtwerke is also part of the induction days: on August 5, the new recruits meet their training mentors, followed by a workshop at Boxclub Nordend e.V., which is supported by Stadtwerke.
