Stadtwerke footballers win company cup
06.05.2026 – The footballers from the Stadtwerke company sports group have won the nationwide company cup in Hanover: After a strong comeback in the final, the team from Offenbach secured the German championship title against their Frosta rivals from Bremerhaven at the end of April 2026.
The team secured its ticket to the final round in December 2025 with a commanding victory in the qualifying tournament. The 25 best teams from a total of eleven German states met in Hanover.
"We arrived highly motivated with 16 players and started the tournament with a 5:1 victory," reports Kevin Fromm, team captain of Stadtwerke Offenbach. In the second group game, the team suffered a setback with a 1-2 draw, and the 0-0 draw in the third game made it clear: The quarter-finals could only be reached with a win in the last group game. Under pressure, the team showed character: with a 3:1 win, the Offenbach team secured second place in the group - and progressed to the knockout phase.
Team spirit and unbridled determination contributed to success
In the round of 16, the diverse team of commercial, operational and IT specialists won confidently 4:1. The team also impressed in the quarter-finals with a 4:2 victory and deservedly advanced to the semi-finals. "Then a real thriller unfolded," says Fromm. After a hard-fought game, the decision against the team from Schindler und Humboldt GmbH & Co. KG from Thuringia only came down to a penalty shoot-out. "With strong nerves, accurate shooters and an outstanding goalkeeper performance, our team prevailed 5:4," said Fromm.
After a long and intensive tournament day - all matches took place indoors on 25 April 2026 - the Stadtwerkers mobilized all their strength once again for the final of the company cup. The team initially fell 2:0 behind against their Frosta opponents from Bremerhaven, but then went on an ice-cold comeback. "Our team showed passion, fighting spirit and unbridled determination and won sensationally 4:2 in the end," said a delighted Stadtwerke Managing Director Peter Walther. He congratulated all the players on their "outstanding success", which served as a role model and inspiration for all 1,200 employees within Stadtwerke Offenbach: "With team spirit and commitment, ambition and positive energy, they achieved their goal together."

The Corporate Cup is an indoor soccer tournament for companies. Since its nationwide launch in 2016, the Corporate Cup has developed into one of the largest series of its kind in Germany. Numerous qualifying tournaments and the grand nationwide final characterize the event.
Stadtwerke Offenbach's company sports group took part in the indoor company cup for the first time in 2026. As the reigning title holder, it automatically qualifies for the 2027 finals, which will once again take place in Hanover. In ten years of the tournament, no team has ever managed to defend the title, says team captain Kevin Fromm: "As Stadtwerke Offenbach, we will do everything we can to bring the trophy back to Offenbach."
