Municipal utilities employ the most women at management level nationwide
04.08.2021 – Stadtwerke Offenbach remains the nationwide leader when it comes to women in top positions: almost every second manager in the municipal company is female - something that is unparalleled anywhere else in Germany, as confirmed by a survey published in July 2021.
According to the evaluation by Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen (as of March/April 2021), Stadtwerke Offenbach is in first place nationwide with a 47.8% share of women in top management positions at public companies, as in previous years. Rostock (37.1) came a distant second. The average in the 69 larger German cities evaluated was 19.5 percent - in Frankfurt it is only 11.3 percent, in Mainz 7.1 percent and in Heidelberg or Osnabrück even 0 percent.
"Stadtwerke Offenbach and the City of Offenbach have been committed to gender equality in the workplace for many years and greatly appreciate the leadership qualities of women in top positions," says Lord Mayor Felix Schwenke. "The fact that we are consistently at the top of the list of municipal companies nationwide is a great success and confirms our commitment as well as the many years of service of our female managers," emphasizes Schwenke, who is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Stadtwerke. Since taking office, Schwenke has also appointed women to new management positions within the city administration in three out of four cases.

There are part-time models from the managing director to the trainee and working hours that are as flexible as possible according to individual needs. The company's social work covers various topics. Mobile working was already in place at Stadtwerke before coronavirus, for example when children are ill or daycare centers are closed. In addition, there are subsidies for kindergarten fees and discounted offers for job tickets, vacation soccer camps or electricity and gas tariffs.
