SOH supports the OFC handball team's youth work

03.07.2019 – The OFC's first men's handball team has achieved what their footballing counterparts can only dream of: They finished the 2018/19 season undefeated and were promoted to the higher division. Their jerseys in the Landesliga Süd will be adorned with the SOH logo from August - the Stadtwerke Group has signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with the OFC handball department as of July 1, 2019.

Children and young people from the OFC handball department were in high spirits before setting off on this year's leisure activities.

In addition to the sporting success, SOH Managing Director Peter Walther is particularly impressed by the club's social commitment. "With a growing number of youth teams whose activities go far beyond sport, the OFC handball team does exemplary work for many children and young people in Offenbach," emphasizes Walther. This was the basis for the Stadtwerke Group's decision to provide the department with €2,000 per year from now until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Offenbach Kickers handball department has around 400 members, ten youth teams and five adult teams. In addition to training sessions and matches, there are regular events for and with the youngsters. Once a year, around 40 children between the ages of 8 and 15 spend a week together on the youth trip: the 2019 trip to the Odenwald started on June 30 under the motto "You have to celebrate the festivals as they fall". Volunteer coaches from the older youth and adult teams accompany the youngsters and give them an unforgettable week together with creative workshops, night-time activities and much more. The program received the City of Offenbach's Volunteer Award in 2018. The OFC handball team also organizes training camps, beach handball tournaments, parties and much more. From the age of 3, the little ones can get active with the Kickers handball team at Bobbelsche children's gymnastics under the motto "Get out of the buggy".

"Our focus is on team spirit and having fun playing together," says youth manager Christian Weis. "We see so many children growing up with us - and it's great to see that many of them later give this commitment back to the younger ones." The SOH sponsorship is now making an important contribution to further sporting and social success.
