Offenbach Fencing Club
FC Offenbach is the second oldest fencing club in Germany. Stadtwerke Offenbach supports the fencers in both elite and popular sports.
Successful coaches, including the famous Italian Arturo Gazzera, ensured that German champions, European champions and world champions in fencing repeatedly came from Offenbach. But fencers from the Offenbach Fencing Club also improved the German medal tables with bronze, silver and gold medals.
Helene Mayer, who won a gold medal in fencing at the 1928 Olympic Games at the age of 17, attracted particular attention. Offenbach fencers also won medals at the 1906 Intermediate Olympics in Athens. The first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010 were also won by an Offenbacher as a silver medalist.
