City of Offenbach

Outstanding commitment to greater sustainability

Our understanding of sustainability relates to the ecological, economic and social levels: the Stadtwerke Group wants to use available resources in an environmentally friendly way and involve more citizens in social processes.

Solar modules have been installed on the roofs of the Stadtwerke headquarters in Senefelderstrasse for years.

Public utilities

Overall, Stadtwerke's commitment to the environment is growing: solar panels have been installed on the roofs of the company headquarters and at the stadium for many years, printing is done on recycled paper throughout the Group and the company kitchens offer free water dispensers. Species protection also plays a role: new bee meadows are growing in the cemeteries and Stadtservice is using more and more insect-friendly plants. Stadtwerke Offenbach also promotes landscape conservation and biodiversity in Offenbach with the Mainbogen sheep farm.

Stadtwerke is also active in the area of social sustainability: mobile working is possible in most areas, there are various offers of support, further and advanced training opportunities, and attention is also paid to the compatibility of work and family life. Further measures here:

Mobility

Since the end of 2021, 36 city buses have been electric. Digital passenger information and read-aloud functions at bus stops and on buses contribute to accessibility.

The in-house vehicle fleet, for example at Stadtservice and GBO, is also becoming increasingly electric. In addition, e-bikes and e-cars are available to employees to borrow free of charge, as well as discounted job tickets. Charging your own e-car is of course also very easy in our parking lots with charging stations. Public charging points are available in Senefelderstrasse and Hebestrasse.

Real estate

Whether schools, daycare centers or apartment buildings: more and more construction projects in the Stadtwerke's Geschäftsfeld Immobilien are using wood as a sustainable building material. OPG designed the harbor area as an urban quarter with lots of greenery and high-quality energy standards. GBO also invests several million euros every year in the refurbishment of its portfolio in order to reduce CO2 emissions and heating costs.
