07.12.2023 – Capitol Theater Offenbach and Stadthalle Offenbach have a colorful selection of events for every taste in store for the beginning of 2024.
Capitol
The Capitol Theater is kicking off the new year in classical style: on Saturday, January 6, the Ukrainian Classical Ballet will present an impressive performance of Tchaikovsky's world-famous "Swan Lake" . The story of the enchanted swan princess, who can only be redeemed by true love, expresses great emotions in music and dance, completely without words. Also extremely popular is "The Magic Flute for young and old": Germany's most frequently performed opera stimulates the imagination of children in particular and also enchants adult audiences with its famous arias. On Wednesday, January 10, the Prague Chamber Opera is staging the love story between Prince Tamino and his Pamina for the whole family at the Capitol: the dangerous Queen of the Night with her coloratura drama is joined by dancing animals and bewitched musical instruments.
The classical New Year's concert with music and variety is coming up on Sunday, January 14: in addition to the Danube Waltz and the Radetzky March, the Capitol Symphony Orchestra will also perform Strauss pieces and film music, which will interact with brilliant variety scenes. Just one day later, "The Ice Queen" enters the charismatic house: on January 15, the musical show spectacle on skates combines parts 1 & 2 of the Disney films about Elsa, Anna and their companions. This brings the celebrated songs from the world's most successful animated films to European stages and Offenbach in spectacular style. According to the organizers, the winter fairy tale wonderfully shows the great roles that love, friendship and bravery play in life.
"That's enough!", Florian Schroeder then shouts: he will definitely not be singing on 24 January, but analyzing and commenting, parodying and laughing about the madness of the past year. Songs of Peace and Hope", a song recital at Theateressenz Offenbach on January 29, will certainly help with all the crises. After that, the glamorous Capitol stage belongs to musicals again - such as "Tarzan" on February 4, "Unchained Musical Melodies " on March 16 or "Rock of Ages " with wicked electric guitars on March 30. If you're lucky, you might be able to get your hands on the last tickets for the legendary Capitol Cinema Lounge: Buster Keaton's almost 100-year-old "General", one of the best silent film comedies with daring stunts, can be seen on March 3 with live orchestral accompaniment.

Stadthalle 2024 kicks off with "fireworks of good humor": The Offenbach Carnival Association will ring in the foolish season on Saturday, January 13, with a five-hour series of shows, comedy and a coronation ceremony. Some people like it a little more spooky and are therefore in the right place a week later with "Dr. Mark Benecke - Blutspuren". As the "Lord of the Maggots", the famous criminal biologist devotes himself to mysterious cases and exciting questions that not everyone wants to have answered. Entry to his shocking and fascinating crime scene world on January 20 is suitable for crime fans aged 16 and over. Older people will probably be drawn to OMD & special guest: Walt Disco: British synth pioneers Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, whose first number one hit "Maid of Orleans" was released back in 1981, will be presenting their brand new album "Bauhaus Staircase" in Offenbach on January 30. On February 2, Bad Omens, a US metalcore band that was supposed to play in front of 300 people a year ago and is now filling impressive halls on their Concrete Forever Europe tour, will get down to business in the Stadthalle.
The Home of Rock'n'Roll is musically highly flexible: the incredible Alexander Marcus, who sits somewhere between modern club music and abstruse pop songs, promises for his performance on February 17: "All your worries will disappear" - and 01099, the hip hop act of the sustainability generation, will also be radiating lightness in dark times on February 22. The trio, whose name corresponds to the zip code of Dresden's Neustadt district, aims to reinterpret rap and trigger wild mosh pits in the hall. There will also be plenty of dancing on February 9 at the legendary Friday Carnival with confetti, costumes and live music by Helium 6. The Hollywood Film Orchestra has just been booked for Sunday, March 10: at 3 p.m. it will present "The Magical Music of Harry Potter" with special guest , and from 7 p.m. it will celebrate film music itself with "The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others". The family-friendly program features special lighting and laser technology. Further highlights are already on the program for the whole year, such as Bosse on 27 April or the Beatsteaks on 2 October.
In international Offenbach, the Stadthalle also strikes a different note: On January 14, the Golec uOrkiestra will transport you to the Christmas atmosphere of the Polish mountains, Sivan Perwer will sing about the fate of the Kurds on February 3, Haluk Levent will promote international understanding with Turkish rock music on March 3, and the Erisioni ensemble will present the charm of Georgia in an acrobatic show with dance and music on March 7. At the Capitol Theater, Musa Eroglu will play the Alevi lute Bağlama with virtuosity on 21 January, and Zarab from Istanbul will mix Spanish flamenco with Turkish sounds on 17 February. Try something new more often - that could be a good resolution for 2024, starting with the tickets under the fir tree.
