Annual Report 2024: More than 52,000 jobs: City is on course for success
Economic development in Offenbach am Main is making measurable progress, even if times remain challenging. The Economic Development Agency's 2024 annual report reports exactly 52,058 jobs in Offenbach - that is more than 50,000 jobs in Offenbach for the first time in 33 years.
"We were able to gain 3,532 additional jobs for Offenbach last year in tough economic times," emphasized Lord Mayor and Head of Economic Development Dr Felix Schwenke at the presentation of the report on 6 March 2025. "These figures are proof of great progress. At the same time, we know that there is still a lot to do."
The Kaiserlei district gained even more importance as a high-quality location for renowned companies in 2024: more company headquarters are moving here. On the Innovation Campus, the progressing construction site for the headquarters of Samson AG shows where the new heart of industry in Offenbach will beat. Demand for space remains high: more than 220 inquiries were received last year. Offenbach continues to lead the country in terms of start-up intensity and has improved its position in the top ten nationwide.
"Our long-term and solution-oriented location policy, which actually makes projects a reality, is also taking effect in the city centre," emphasized Mayor Schwenke. At the beginning of 2024, the city acquired the former Kaufhof property and immediately began building Station Mitte there - the largest building block in the city center future concept. By 2026, a contemporary city library will be built in the pedestrian zone as a new learning, cultural and meeting place.
Innovative store concepts were successfully tested in Testraum-Allee, and now a dedicated test space is also available for this purpose. There were many events for the creative industries that strengthened and networked the dynamic scene. The internationally renowned title of "World Design Capital 2026" for the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region gave the creative scene additional momentum.
