Here's what the residents of Offenbach have to say
On November 5, 2025, a public engagement event was held for the "Green Downtown Core" project. Through walking tours of the city and interactive stations at City Hall, approximately 40 residents shared their perspectives. The goal was to collectively examine the central sequence of squares in the city center—from Platz der Deutschen Einheit through Stadthof and Hugenottenplatz to the plaza in front of the Marktplatz S-Bahn station—and gather ideas for their development.

The feedback painted a clear picture of the desired changes:
More greenery, shade, and water: There is a desire for increased greening of the city center, more trees, and shade-providing elements to counteract the sensation of heat.
Improved quality of stay: Transforming thoroughfares into attractive spaces with more seating and non-commercial amenities is a key priority.
Well-maintained appearance and identity: Higher-quality maintenance as well as design diversity through art, culture, or better lighting were considered important.
Civic engagement: The willingness to actively participate through sponsorships and community involvement was also discussed.
Next steps:
The results of this on-site engagement will now be combined with the findings from the online engagement and the Children’s and Youth Parliament. They will be incorporated into the development of an integrated concept for the Grüne Mitte, which will then be submitted to the city council for a decision.
