News on the future city center project

The Intercontinental Gardens are a public garden in the heart of downtown that brings people, nature, and community engagement together.

Starting Thursday, August 6, the Intercontinental Gardens at Aliceplatz 10 will be open regularly three days a week. The cultural garden in the courtyard of the former post office building will remain open through October.

For the “On the Road” event series organized by the Offenbach Bookmobile, we are looking for residents of Offenbach who would like to present their favorite book with a connection to the city and read from it.

The sandstone facade is now completely exposed. One last remaining section was brought to light when the aluminum cladding in the entrance on Herrnstraße was removed.

A new medium-voltage switchgear was delivered and installed for the Mitte station. It is now located in the equipment room and, once connected and commissioned, will initially supply power to the construction site.

Plans for the Mitte station are being further developed: A more flexible layout creates better conditions for marketing the commercial spaces.

After it became apparent in the fall of 2025 that the planned costs would increase due to significant construction problems, the city temporarily halted construction work in January 2026.

The area around Mitte station, where the city library with a larger range of services and businesses in the former Kaufhof building will be located in future, will become quieter again acoustically.
