Construction fence in Frankfurter Straße and Herrnstraße: work continues at Mitte station
16.05.2025 – In the heart of Offenbach's city center, work on the implementation of the future concept for the city center will visibly continue next week. Parallel to the conversion of the town hall pavilion at the Stadthof, the former Kaufhof building on Frankfurter Straße will also be transformed into the future Station Mitte with the city library as the anchor tenant. While all the components that made up the former department store were removed during the previous demolition work, the old building services are now being removed.
For this purpose, containers must be set up in front of the former main entrance, in which the disused technical parts are collected for removal. For safety reasons, it will be necessary to secure parts of the pedestrian zone in Frankfurter Straße and Herrnstraße with a construction fence from Tuesday, May 20. Residents, passers-by and delivery traffic will be able to walk or drive past the barriers.
Work will be carried out Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm. To ensure that the work causes as little noise and dust as possible, a rubble chute will not be used as far as possible. Instead, the dismantled materials will be transported down the outside of the building using a site elevator.
This work is expected to be completed in July.
