Harbor school

The Hafenschule is an elementary school with four classes and two pre-primary classes. There is currently one all-day class and three regular classes in each year group, with the exception of the first and second years, where there are two all-day classes.

Throughout the school year, all classes support each other in everyday school life - even across year groups. The new building, which went into operation in 2017, offers various special spatial features:

Sports hall

The two-storey sports halls are an integral part of everyday school life and are truly special in terms of their facilities. There are permanently installed judo mats on the 1st floor. These are used by the "Samurai Offenbach" sports club as well as during PE and physical education lessons. On the 3rd floor, an extensive climbing and adventure course with cube elements can be set up in a few simple steps.

Library

The Offenbach public library supports the Hafenschule in equipping, cataloging and managing its own school library. Since the 2018/19 school year, the school library has been open every Monday and Thursday from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Special rooms

• Other specialist rooms include the music, art and craft room (with kiln), the computer room and the sensory room.
• In the leisure and meeting room, pupils can play board games and other relaxing activities during school hours and in the afternoon.
• Two classrooms always have a differentiation room. In this room, individual support can be provided or work can be done in small groups. Further support (language support, concentration training, etc.) can be implemented in special support rooms.
• SMS project - playhouse: The playhouse was introduced to make the breaks and afternoons at the Hafenschule even more active for the children. A room with break-time games and small sports equipment was set up for this purpose. The games room lending system is managed independently by the fourth year pupils. The most important rules for borrowing games and using the equipment are written on a rules poster. In order to be able to borrow something from the playhouse, all children have received an ID card with their name and class symbol at school. The pupils exchange this card for a piece of play equipment of their choice and receive it back when they return the equipment.
