17 - Signal box

Beschreibung

In the 19th century, all the threads came together in signal boxes: from here, railroad technicians could monitor the tracks in order to set points and signals. Later, newer communication technologies extended the monitoring radius. After the tracks were raised around 1920, the signal box, which is exemplary for a late classicist functional building with its simple structure, also had to be raised. The construction engineers of the Reichsbahn administration placed a new timber-clad upper floor on the brick base made of red sandstone blocks.
