Stumbling stone for Thea Berta Sichel

Description

Thea Berta Sichel was born in Frankfurt on March 11, 1926 to Jewish parents Fritz and Gertrude Sichel, née Mühlstein. For unknown reasons, the nine-year-old girl, called Betty, lived with her grandparents Fritz and Paula Mühlstein in Offenbach at Ludwigstraße 78 for a short time in 1935.

After a three-year stay in Fürstenwalde, she returned to Offenbach and lived with her grandparents again from 1939 at Ludwigstraße 78 and from August 1941 at Mittelseestraße 31.

Betty Sichel was 16 years old when she and her grandparents Fritz and Paula Mühlstein, née Stiefel, were picked up by the Nazis on September 27, 1942 and deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp.

According to the deportation list, Betty was the only young person among the old and infirm Offenbach deportees to be transported to Theresienstadt. Her registration card reads: "October 9, 1942 moved unknown".

Betty Sichel did not stay in Theresienstadt, but was transported from there to the Auschwitz concentration camp. It is not known exactly when this happened and when she was murdered there.

The memorial book (opens in a new tab)states: "Thea Betti Sichel - Offenbach - born March 11, 1926 - declared dead - Auschwitz".
The last note on her registration card is the decision of the Offenbach district court dated November 19, 1957: "The above-named is declared dead. The date of death is established as October 31, 1944. The decision has been legally binding since February 4, 1958."

Relocated on March 08, 2007
