Stumbling stone for Jettchen Wolf, Julius Wolf, Siegfried Wolf, Ilse Käthe Wolf, née Stiefel

Beschreibung

Julius Wolf, a real "Berjeler Bub", was born on January 27, 1881, the son of Isaak and Charlotte Wolf.

On December 20, 1907, he married Jettchen Wolf in Offenbach, who had been born in Dietzenbach on October 26, 1877, the daughter of Götz and Theresa Wolf. A few days later, the couple moved to Rohrstraße 26 (today: Hermann-Steinhäuser-Straße), where Jettchen's brothers - Moritz and Seligmann - had been living with their families since April 1906.

Julius worked as a self-employed butcher. Their first son Gottfried was born on January 31, 1909. Their daughter Johanna followed on September 20, 1910 and their second son Siegfried on March 19, 1914.

Johanna married Martin Adler from Nuremberg on March 24, 1937 and moved with him to Niddastrasse 46 in Frankfurt, where they lived together with her mother-in-law Clara. It is not known when Johanna and Martin emigrated to the USA. The birth of their daughter, Judith Claire, was announced in a newspaper advertisement on May 27, 1948.

Clara Adler was deported to Theresienstadt on September 15, 1942 and died there in the same year. Gottfried married Ilse Käthe Stiefel, who was born in Limburg on May 1, 1909, in Offenbach on August 27, 1938.

The Wolf family experienced the November 1938 pogroms in Offenbach. Siegfried was arrested shortly afterwards, on November 16, 1938, along with other Jews and remained imprisoned in the Dachau concentration camp until January 12, 1939. It is not known whether Gottfried was also in the concentration camp. He emigrated alone to Isborough (UK) on August 22, 1939, as can be seen from his registration card.

Jettchen and Julius Wolf lived with their son Siegfried and daughter-in-law Ilse Käthe in Rohrstraße until January 17, 1940. They were then forced to move to Domstraße 66, where several Jews were already quartered.

The last entry on the index card of Julius, Jettchen and Siegfried reads "08.10.42 - left unknown", Ilse Käthe's entry reads: "08.10.42 - traveling".

The deportation lists show that all four were transported to Darmstadt on September 30, 1942. The memorial book "Opfer der Verfolgung der Juden unter der nationalsozialistischen Gewaltherrschaft in Deutschland 1933-1945" (Victims of Persecution of Jews under National Socialist Tyranny in Germany 1933-1945 (opens in a new tab)) published by the Federal Archives states that the presumed destination of the transport was the Treblinka concentration camp. It is not known when and how they died.
