31 - Kaiserlei Bridge

Beschreibung

The bridge got its name from the neighboring Offenbach district of Kaiserlei. Built in 1960-64 by MAN Gustavsburg and Rheinstahl AG in Dortmund, the bridge was transported by water and assembled by the Offenbach-based company Stahlbau Lavis.
It spans 220 m over the Main, has a crown height of 26 m and a total width of 36.70 m between the railings. The main arch girders are stiffened steel tubes, each with a diameter of 2 m² and a wall thickness of 20 mm. The roadway is suspended from the arched girders by means of steel rods. The abutments stand on a total of 110 piles.
