Villa Moller

Beschreibung

Old view of the Villa Moller building

The Friedrich Moller company, founded in 1848 as a steel goods factory, was located in Sprendlinger Landstraße from 1882 as a precision metal screw factory and form turning shop.

The business was sold to the Heyne company in 1928, closed down shortly afterwards and demolished at the end of the 1930s. All that remains of the Moller factory complex is the villa built in 1889 for the son of the company founder. Architect Steuerwald designed a residential building in the historicist style with generous external dimensions but only three rooms per floor and - by no means a matter of course at the time - one bathroom per floor.

The building with its turrets, decorative dormers and wooden veranda is reminiscent of a small castle and makes you forget that the villa and garden were located next to the factory in the growing industrial area of Sprendlinger Landstraße. The villa's current appearance is the result of extensive renovation work from 1957 onwards.
