Lilipark playground

Beschreibung

Following its redesign in 2009, Lilipark is now a peaceful green space with a large central lawn surrounded by generous flowerbeds. Grasses such as snow sedge, whistle grass and woodland smock, ferns such as worm fern and funnel fern, shrubs such as cornelian cherry, holly, various types of snowball and rock pear form a peaceful, naturalistic planting scheme that is kept green in green.

The entrances on Herrnstrasse and Linsenberg are framed by low walls made of concrete blocks. On Herrnstraße, parts of the historic building decoration of the former market pharmacy are also presented. Their design makes reference to the entrance door of the Haus der Stadtgeschichte.
From three seating niches framed by low hedges, there are beautiful views of Metzler's bathing temple or, in the opposite direction, far into Büsingpark.

The children's playground formerly located in Lilipark was moved to the area in front of the new AWO café in 2009. The area facing the café was significantly cleared by removing shrubs, so that a good view from the park to the café and vice versa is now possible. The main access to the café - also barrier-free - is from Sophie-von-LaRoche-Platz, while a further path made of sandstone paving with grass joints winds its way from Büsingpark between play areas to the café terrace.

The play islands offer a range of activities for children up to the age of 10, focusing on climbing, swinging and balancing. The main attraction is a large new climbing frame with slide, climbing net and other elements suitable for children aged 4 and over. The oval play islands are surrounded by hornbeam hedges. Companions can sit close to the children on the benches.

Another play attraction is the water and sand play area on Sophie-von-LaRoche-Platz: water can be poured into stepped pools and dammed up at two pumping stations.
