Friedhofstraße playground, with skating hill, basketball and table tennis
Beschreibung
The Friedhofstraße playground is located in the eastern part of the city center on the edge of the old cemetery and is a popular meeting place for children and young people from the surrounding area. It was completely redesigned in 2003 as part of a project of the Hessian Community Initiative Social City "HEGISS" and equipped with new, attractive play equipment. The aim was to transform the playground into a meeting place for all generations.
The selected play equipment was chosen to enable children to play together as opposed to playing in isolation.
The open space now offers the following areas:
- Ball field with a small-sided goal, a rope snake (for ball games) and a basketball stand
- Youth meeting area with a skating hill, table tennis table, pergola and hammock, standing seesaw
- Activity play area with turntable, bird's nest swing and climbing rock
- Toddler area with sand play area with water pump, arched bridge, playhouse
The playground also has three communication corners equipped with benches and tables as well as the "Cat and Mouse" play sculpture.
In 2007, the adjacent wall facing the Offenbacher Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH premises and the grounds of the old cemetery was designed by the children and young people from the neighborhood themselves.
Pupils from the August-Bebel-Schule were recruited to implement the project. The pupils photographed interested children and young people from the district, worked up the photos graphically and artistically and supported the young artists from the district in putting their faces on the cemetery wall.
