Egerländer Gmoi Offenbach
Founded in 1953, the Egerländer Gmoi Offenbach can look back on a proud history. At that time, the association still had 50 members - today, 130 men and women contribute to passing on the cultural values, customs and traditions of the Egerland to future generations.
Description
Until 1945/1946, the Egerlanders lived in north-western Bohemia in the administrative district of Eger, in what is now the Czech Republic. The more than 800,000 Egerlanders shared the fate of all 3.5 million Sudeten Germans who were expelled after their property was confiscated. The Egerländer Gmoi in Offenbach keeps the culture of the Egerland alive and passes on dialect and traditional costumes, folk songs and folk dances from the first to the third generation. In addition to cultural work, leisure activities such as seminars, excursions and barbecues are also on the association's agenda.
You don't have to be born an Egerlander or descended from an Egerlander to be part of the community. Many members were also born in Offenbach.
