Municipal representative for the interests of people with disabilities

In Offenbach am Main, citizens with disabilities have many opportunities to realize their equal participation in social life.

The city wants to support citizens with disabilities in leading a life with as few restrictions and as many opportunities as possible.

The municipal representative for the interests of people with disabilities works towards the realization of equality for people with disabilities and the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the city of Offenbach and contributes to enabling them to lead a self-determined life and participate equally in social life.

His tasks include advising local politicians and the city administration on all issues relating to the interests of people with disabilities and at the same time ensuring that the city of Offenbach fulfills its responsibility to ensure equal living conditions for people with and without disabilities in all areas of social life. In addition, the representative for the interests of people with disabilities works towards the implementation of the Municipal Action Plan for Inclusion (KAI) and its updating in order to improve the quality of life and thus also the social participation of people with disabilities within the city by creating more accessibility in public transport, in public facilities and through a variety of inclusive pilot projects. In doing so, it represents the interests of people with disabilities in specialist committees, particularly in the area of municipal construction and transportation, and is in close contact with stakeholders in the area of commitment to the interests of people with disabilities.

The municipal representative for the interests of people with disabilities receives complaints and information on deficiencies and barriers from people with disabilities within the city of Offenbach, clarifies the facts, involves the responsible departments and initiates remedial action.
