The Urban Development Department
- develops basic principles for urban development.
- analyzes urban development trends and derives recommendations for action for the city.
- develops and manages guiding principles and urban development processes.
- systematically observes and analyzes the development of neighboring municipalities and the region with regard to its impact on the City of Offenbach.
- prepares and coordinates the City of Offenbach's position on third-party projects and plans.
- participates in regional development/regional and land use planning.
- draws up specialist plans, e.g. district development concepts and open space planning issues.
- is involved in urban development framework planning.
- manages and implements projects under state and federal urban development programs.
- advises and supervises housing development programs.
For the city of Offenbach, urban development planning sees its task in particular in working out and further developing Offenbach's existing potential and particular strengths in the areas of housing, work, infrastructure (kindergartens, schools, etc.), retail, traffic, open space and green areas (local recreation). In this way, plans and developments are drawn up for the city as a whole as well as for individual urban districts.
