Commission for Environmental Protection
The Commission for Environmental Protection (short: Environmental Commission) is an auxiliary body of the municipal council and is formed in accordance with the legal provisions of the Hessian Municipal Code (HGO).
Overview
It advises and makes recommendations to the City Council on important environmental issues. The basis for the course of business is the commission regulations of the City of Offenbach am Main.
As a jury, the Commission for Environmental Protection selects the winner of the Offenbach Climate and Environmental Protection Prize, which the City of Offenbach awards annually with a value of € 1,000.00.
The Environmental Commission, chaired by Mayor Sabine Groß, is currently made up of

- 6 city councillors
- 8 knowledgeable residents, namely
- 1 representative of the tourist association "Die Naturfreunde", local group Offenbach e.V.
- 1 representative of the Offenbach Association for Natural History
- 1 representative of the Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation e.V.
- 1 Representative of the German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union
- 1 Representative of Local Agenda 21 Offenbach
- 1 Representative of the Offenbach Energy Saving Initiative
- 1 Representative of the Offenbach Air Traffic Citizens' Initiative
- 1 representative of the Foreigners' Advisory Council
The commission members are generally appointed for the duration of the term of office of the City Council.
The Commission is managed by the Office for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection.
