Adult education center Offenbach

The Offenbach Adult Education Center is the public further education institution of the city of Offenbach and, according to the Hessian Further Education Act (HWBG), it has the task of ensuring the basic provision of further education for the population. "Its educational offer includes content that promotes the development of the personality, strengthens the ability to participate in shaping the democratic community and helps to meet the demands of the working world. It covers the areas of general, political, vocational and cultural further education as well as further education in connection with the exercise of voluntary work and includes preparation for the acquisition of school-leaving qualifications as well as health education, parental, family and women's education." (HWBG, §2, para. 1)

According to its statutes, the adult education center "... has to provide a comprehensive educational program that is oriented towards the social and individual needs of life and the state of scientific knowledge. It carries out its educational work independently of political parties and other interest groups." (Statutes, §2, para. 2)

The Volkshochschule is the contact point in the city of Offenbach for further education issues and for advising the population on further education. It is a place of learning and a citizens' forum, a cultural and health center. As a lively meeting place for all citizens and intercultural education, the Adult Education Center makes a significant contribution to integration and mutual tolerance. It acts as a cooperation partner and service provider for associations, administrations, businesses and initiatives, among others. As a hub in the municipal education network, it works on the permanent improvement of the municipal education infrastructure and contributes to the transparency of the diverse educational offers. As a municipal office in the city of Offenbach, it is involved in the implementation of the education policy strategy of lifelong learning and the promotion of citizens' participation in further education.
