Work, employment or fitness for duty examination

Medical examinations are one of the central tasks of the public health department in accordance with the Hessian Law on the Public Health Service (HGöGD).

The performance of such examinations and the preparation of expert opinions, certificates or attestations are carried out on the basis of specific legal requirements.
A written order from the responsible authority or institution is required for this. Please note that these official acts are subject to a fee.

Please bring the following documents with you:

• The order letter from the authority or institution, if it is not already available to the City Health Department
• Valid official photo ID (e.g. passport, identity card, driver's license)
• Copy of existing medical documents, such as medical findings, certificates, treatment reports or expert opinions

The assessment is subject to a fee and is carried out on the basis of

• Section 19 of the Hessian Law on the Public Health Service (HGöGD)
• the Hessian Administrative Costs Act (HVwKostG)
• the Administrative Cost Regulations for the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration (VwKostO-HSMI)

Your employer pays the fees and receives an invoice.

The assessment is carried out on the basis of the respective laws

• Decree of the Hessian Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration (HMSI)
• Hessian Civil Service Act (HBG)
• §Section 1 (2)(10) of the Hessian Act on the Public Health Service (HGöGD)
• §Section 14 of the Hessian Act on the Public Health Service (HGöGD)
