The following facilities are covered by measles protection?

• Community facilities according to §33 No. 1-4 and §36 No. 4 IfSG
  (e.g. schools, day care centers, child day care, refugee shelters)
• Healthcare facilities according to §23 (3) IfSG
  (e.g. hospitals, rehabilitation and day clinics, medical and dental practices, practices of other human medical professions, emergency services)

Who needs adequate measles protection?

• People who are or will be cared for in communal facilities
• Persons who are or will be working in community facilities
• Persons who are or will be working in healthcare facilities

Excluded are:

• Persons born before 01.01.1971
• Persons with medical contraindications to measles vaccination. A medical certificate is required.
• Children under the age of one do not require a certificate; from the age of two, two vaccinations or proof of sufficient immunity are required.

Proof of sufficient measles protection

• at the respective institution (deadline was 31.07.2022)
• at the public health department on request

Persons who do not provide sufficient proof may neither be cared for nor work in the facilities concerned. However, this does not apply to persons who are subject to compulsory school attendance. If there is no proof of sufficient measles protection on the day of admission, the management of the school concerned must notify the public health department immediately.
