Residence re-registration

If you are moving within Offenbach am Main, you must register for your new home in person within two weeks of moving in.

Alternatively, you can be represented by a person you trust. In addition to the documents listed below, you will need a written power of attorney expressly authorizing you to register. Alternatively, you can provide the authorized representative with a re-registration form which you have previously completed and signed. We expressly point out that it may be necessary to visit the Citizens' Office in person.

Children and young people up to the age of 16 must be re-registered by the person whose home the child or young person is moving into. Further information on registering minors can be found under "Registering, re-registering and deregistering a residence before the age of 16".

• Personal presentation with proof of identity or
• Power of attorney and signed registration form with proof of identity
• Certificate from the landlord (§ 19.1 BMG)

The re-registration is free of charge.

§ 17 BMG

If you comply with your obligation to register within 2 weeks, you will save yourself unnecessary problems and trouble. Failure to comply with the obligation to register can, for example, lead to problems with vehicle registration, obtaining a driving license or applying for a certificate of good conduct.

Late re-registration can be punished with a fine.
