Marriage certificate issue

If you are married and need a new marriage certificate, you can apply for one at the registry office. To do so, please contact the registry office in the jurisdiction where you were married.
The marriage certificate serves as proof of your marriage to your spouse. It includes your first and last names at the time of the marriage and at the time of issuance, as well as the place and date of birth of both spouses and the place and date of the marriage.
You can obtain the marriage certificate in the following formats:

• Marriage Certificate
• International (multilingual) marriage certificate/Multilingual extract from the marriage record
• Certified printout from the marriage registry

A certified printout from the marriage registry (formerly the family register) contains all the data that the civil registry office has recorded in connection with your marriage.
You will receive the certificate, including any marginal notes, either as

• a new printout from the electronic registry (if your civil registry office already maintains one) or
• a copy or verbatim transcript of the marriage entry from the family register.

To apply for a marriage certificate, you will need:

• Your ID card or passport (a copy is required for written applications; for online applications, you must authenticate yourself electronically using your new ID card)
• If a representative is applying for or picking up the document: a written power of attorney from the authorized person, that person’s ID card or passport, and the representative’s ID card or passport
• for other individuals, proof of their legal interest
  

• Identity card or passport
• Proof of credible legal interest in the document/information
