Driving ban for trucks on Saturdays during the main holiday period - exemption permit
Overview
In Germany, trucks with a maximum permissible mass of more than 7.5 tons and trucks with trailers are not permitted to drive on specified routes on freeways and federal highways on Saturdays during the main holiday period from 1 July to 31 August of each year between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm.
The ban generally does not apply to
- combined road-rail freight transport from the consignor to the nearest suitable loading station or from the nearest suitable unloading station to the consignee,
- the combined road-port transport of goods between the place of loading or unloading and a port located within a radius of no more than 150 kilometers (arrival or departure),

the transportation of
- fresh milk and fresh dairy products,
- fresh meat and fresh meat products,
- fresh fish, live fish and fresh fish products,
- perishable fruit and vegetables,
- empty journeys in connection with journeys under number 3,
- journeys with vehicles that are used in accordance with the Federal Benefits Act. The performance certificate must be carried and handed over to the responsible persons for inspection on request.
