Health assistance (social welfare)

If you do not have health insurance and are receiving income support for a short period of time (expected to be less than one month) without interruption, the social services office will ensure you receive the necessary medical care immediately by issuing a treatment voucher.

This includes

• Preventive health care for the prevention and early detection of diseases
• Medical care in case of illness
• Family planning assistance
• Assistance during pregnancy and motherhood
• Assistance with sterilization

• Informal Application for the Issuance of an Electronic Health Card/Treatment Voucher
• Current notice regarding subsistence benefits
• Identity card or passport
• Prescriptions and/or, if applicable, payment receipts,
• required consultation confirmations, cost estimates, and denial notices

The responsible social assistance agency will provide information on the documents required in each individual case.

No deadlines need to be observed. However, the responsible social welfare agency can only issue a treatment certificate once it has become aware of the need. It is therefore important to submit an application as soon as possible.
