Day care centers
Daycare facilities for children serve to raise, educate and care for children. Every child has a legal entitlement to a place in kindergarten from the age of three.
Overview
Daycare facilities for children (Tageseinrichtungen für Kinder) are crèches for children up to the age of three, kindergartens for children from the age of three until they start school, day nurseries for school-age children and multi-age daycare facilities for children, Section 25 of the Hessian Child and Youth Welfare Code (HKJGB).
Day facilities are intended to promote the child's development into an independent and socially competent personality, to support and supplement upbringing and education in the family and to help parents to better reconcile work and child rearing, Section 22 of Book Eight of the German Social Code (SGB VIII).
Children from the age of one are entitled to early childhood support in a day care facility or in child day care, Section 24 of Book Eight of the German Social Code (SGB VIII).
