Life certificate for submission to the pension insurance company Issue

To enable the pension insurance fund to check whether you are still alive and still entitled to your pension, it can ask you for a so-called life certificate.
You can provide this proof in two ways:

• Using a special form that is confirmed by an authorized body (for example, an office or authority) or
• Digitally, using a special procedure for electronic proof of life.

• Identity card or passport
• when using the form: the completed and confirmed form
• Further documents on request if necessary

• Life certificate for the purposes of statutory pension insurance: usually free of charge.
• As proof for foreign pension insurance providers and for private insurance companies (e.g. company pensions): subject to a fee

The life certificate is usually confirmed immediately upon personal application.
