Food monitoring - club and street festivals

Summertime - party time: as temperatures rise, so does the number of private and public parties. Kindergartens, schools and parishes, as well as clubs, regularly organize parties at which food and drink are also catered for.

However, mistakes can be made when handling food, which can have consequences for the health of guests. Poor hygiene during the preparation and storage of food can be the cause of foodborne infections (e.g. salmonellosis). To prevent any adverse effects on food, minimum hygiene requirements must be observed. Prevention is the best protection against nasty surprises.

Tip: In cooperation with the German Housewives Association (DHB), Hesse Regional Association and the Hessian Ministry of Consumer Protection, a guide entitled "Celebrating parties safely - food hygiene and food safety at club and school parties" has been compiled for this purpose.

Note: However, extensive legal regulations apply to commercial food business operators. This ultimately means that if food is regularly offered at street and club festivals - e.g. because the owner of a butcher's shop or a restaurant also has a corresponding stand vehicle - these entrepreneurs are subject to food law regulations.
