Parking permit for craftsmen in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region

The regional craftsmen's parking permit for the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region (MRN) facilitates the work of craftsmen's businesses that frequently work at different locations in the region. Whereas they previously had to apply for a separate exemption permit for parking in public spaces for each location, since 2008 they have been able to use the regional craftsmen's parking permit, which is recognized in all districts and independent towns in the MRN. These are: Bergstraße district,Bad Dürkheim district, Germersheim district, Südliche Bergstraße district, Neckar-Odenwald district, Rhein-Neckar district, Rhein-Pfalz district, independent cities of Frankenthal, Heidelberg, Landau, Ludwigshafen, Mannheim, Neustadt a. d. Weinstraße, Speyer and Worms.

Since the beginning of 2011, it can also be used in the Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion. This includes the towns and municipalities in the districts of Karlsruhe and Rastatt as well as the city of Karlsruhe and the city of Baden-Baden (specific parking regulations must be observed in the city center of Baden-Baden. There are parking spaces for craftsmen at Wilhelmsbrücke and on the market square. Craftsmen's businesses can obtain a key to use these spaces from the district craftsmen's association).

With the craftsmen's parking permit, a company in the MRN can park its service or workshop vehicle in the following areas on weekdays for the duration of the work assignment, provided there is no other parking option within a reasonable distance:

• In restricted no-stopping zones (sign 286 StVO)
• In no-stopping zones (sign 290 StVO) also outside the marked areas
• In traffic-calmed areas (sign 325 StVO) outside the marked areas, as long as a vehicle with a width of 2.55 m can still pass
• At parking meters and in the area of parking ticket machines without charge (§ 13 para. 1 StVO)
• In areas where parking disks are compulsory without observing the maximum parking time (§ 13 Para. 2 StVO)
• In resident parking spaces with corresponding additional signs

Note: Parking in pedestrian zones, on disabled parking spaces or in the immediate vicinity of the business premises is not possible with the MRN craftsmen's parking permit. If an exemption permit is required for pedestrian zones, a separate application must be submitted to the road traffic authority in whose district the pedestrian zones are located.

The following documents must be submitted with the application:

• Application
• Copy of the trade card or business registration
• Copy of the vehicle license

The administration fee is 150.00 euros per permit. This is charged for each new application.

The MRN craftsman parking permit is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. It is only issued subject to revocation at any time. In particular, it can be revoked if the safety and order of traffic is impaired or in the event of misuse.
